Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Lead Integration Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for modernizing and delivering enterprise integration capabilities that support the Digital Thread and cross-system interoperability. The architect will guide the transition from legacy on-premises middleware to modern cloud-aligned integration architectures, ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient data exchange across the enterprise.
As an expert in integration strategy and design, this role shapes long-term direction, develops standards, and influences how the organization implements integration patterns and cloud services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement advanced integration solutions to address complex technical challenges requiring innovation and architectural depth.
- Provide technical leadership for integration initiatives, including Digital Thread capabilities, API-led solutions, pub/sub messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and business teams to ensure integration solutions meet functional and technical requirements.
- Partner with Cyber Security to ensure integration solutions adhere to enterprise security practices and compliance standards.
- Align integration design patterns with Enterprise Architecture strategies and modernization roadmaps.
- Serve as an advisor on integration policies, programs, and long-range architectural goals.
- Mentor integration developers and engineers to promote consistency, quality, and best practices.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging integration technologies, and apply relevant advancements to enterprise standards.
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 12 years of IT experience, including at least 8 years in integration architecture roles
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering large-scale integration solutions involving APIs, messaging systems, and service-based architectures
- Strong understanding of Digital Thread and pub/sub architecture patterns, including event-driven design and real-time data exchange
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex challenges and propose creative, effective solutions

Integration Architecture & Orchestration
- Designing orchestrated workflows and multi-step integration processes
- Implementing reusable flows and long-running processes
- Coordinating system interactions across distributed environments
API Management & Gateway Patterns
- Designing APIs using consistent enterprise patterns
- Managing API lifecycle, versioning, policies, and governance
- Securing APIs through identity integration, access control, and rate enforcement
Messaging & Asynchronous Integration- Designing queue-based, topic-based, and pub/sub message patterns
- Enabling asynchronous system communication and decoupling
- Building consumer-driven processing models
Event-Driven Architecture- Implementing event routing and event orchestration
- Supporting real-time or near-real-time data exchange
- Designing event-triggered processing flows
Compute-Based Logic & Transformation- Building transformation, validation, enrichment, and routing components
- Designing logic using serverless or container-based compute
- Implementing reusable processing services across integration domains
Integration Artifact Management- Managing schemas, maps, certificates, reusable libraries, and translation assets
- Ensuring consistent data interchange standards across systems
Operational Monitoring & Observability- Designing end-to-end logging, monitoring, and diagnostic capabilities
- Implementing traceability across distributed integration flows
- Ensuring operational visibility and rapid incident resolution
Preferred Skills and Education- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies
- Experience with enterprise integration frameworks (Spring Integration, Apache CXF, etc.)
- Integration-related certifications
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with enterprise frameworks such as TOGAF, ITIL, or ISO standards
