Full Job Description
Position Summary

As the IT Unit Supervisor, you will supervise staff, coordinate plans and assist in the development and maintenance of the Systems and Automation Section of the DDB. This position encompasses highly technical work that requires an understanding of both the SSA and the State of Wisconsin programs, policy, telephone, fax and computer systems. The DDB uses a combination of SSA systems and State of Wisconsin applications and computing platforms. Additionally, this position is the DDB's lead Systems Security Officer with overall responsibility for all systems integrity, security policy development and documentation, security access reviews and identification & resolution of security threats.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordinating business analysis, design, implementation, daily operations, and monitoring of all SSA Disability Adjudication and State of Wisconsin systems utilized by the DDB.
  • Coordinating critical activities related to network management, software development recommendations to management and SSA, and implementation, business intelligence, desktop support, and daily systems operations in accordance with State of Wisconsin and SSA guidance and policies.
  • Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the SSA and the State of Wisconsin in areas involving daily operations, network policies, network performance, planning and implementing upgrades, software deployment, security considerations, and capacity planning.


Salary Information

The starting pay is between $50.29 and $57.55 per hour (approximately $104,600 and $119,700 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an IS Supervisor 2 and is in pay schedule and range is 70/02

Job Details

All applicants who are appointed to this position will be required to go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the SSA is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.

For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.

Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience working in an IT department with computer hardware, software and networks (e.g., helpdesk, software/application development, cyber security, telecommunications systems, hardware/software upgrades, etc.).
  • Experience with IT project management (e.g., setting/managing project timelines, developing project plans, managing project budgets, etc.).
  • Experience leading the work of other staff (e.g., coaching, training staff, reviewing work, etc.).
  • Experience presenting complex or technical information in a variety of formats (e.g. verbal briefings, presentations, trainings, written reports, etc.) to both technical and non-technical audiences and key decision makers.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience working as a supervisor in an IT field or setting (e.g., hiring, training/orientating staff, assigning work, performance evaluations, discipline, etc.).
  • Experience translating/interpreting, organizing, and documenting business needs and requirements for IT systems and business solutions.
  • Experience providing ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting issues and developing and/or implementation of telephone systems.
  • Associate's Degree or completed coursework in computer, AI or business related field.
