Summary

You will serve as a IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS/APPSW) in the of Code GT54 Training Sys ISE Div NAWCTSD ORLANDO located in WHIDBEY ISLAND NAS, WA.

Duties

Help

  • You will perform configuration management, in-house trainer modifications, information assurance sustainment, fleet synthetic training support, acquisition support, and technical support and liaison with fleet customers for all training systems.
  • You will have full responsibility for planning and fulfilling all technical requirements of programs, projects, studies, or other work, and is a technical authority on all work to be accomplished relevant to the cognizant training systems.
  • You will be an on-site IT Specialist and have full responsibility of In-Service Engineering Office (ISEO) software and hardware modifications that have been assigned to you.
  • You will perform work assignments that are program-driven, i.e., they originate from sponsor, user, and contractor requirements and interfaces relating to training technologies and techniques.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 451, proficiency level basic. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Drawing upon and improving distantly related precedence and guidelines, and adopting and developing new precedence, methods, and guidelines.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Working with sponsors, users, and contractors to determine requirements and interfaces related to training technologies and techniques.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Communicating information in order to assist with planning, testing, and executing Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) events.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Exercising sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, and creativity in deviating from traditional methods to solve complex problems and issues.

In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11/12) or pay band (DS-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties pertaining to the following: 1) Demonstrated advanced experience administering, troubleshooting, and sustaining both Windows and Linux operating systems and servers in a complex, multi-enclave enterprise or tactical environment; 2) In-depth experience navigating the DoD/DoW Risk Management Framework (RMF), including hands-on experience developing, managing, or heavily contributing to Authority to Operate (ATO) packages and lifecycle management; 3) Expert-level knowledge and practical experience utilizing ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution) or Nessus to conduct vulnerability scans, analyze results, and independently engineer remediation strategies without disrupting mission-critical systems; 4) Performing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checks, validating compliance, and applying complex configuration changes or regression testing across production environments; 5) Writing, troubleshooting, and optimizing scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine system administration, configuration, or data collection tasks.
