Job Title: IT Manager

About the Role
NetCentric is seeking an experienced IT Manager to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing IT systems that directly support NOAA's mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and able to lead both technical efforts and team coordination in a dynamic environment.

What You'll Do
  • Lead day-to-day IT operations, including systems, networks, infrastructure, and user support.
  • Manage IT projects by creating execution plans, coordinating resources, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operating instructions, and system specifications.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity and DevOps teams to support secure, automated, and compliant system operations.
  • Support NOAA's mission by ensuring IT systems are resilient, reliable, and aligned with organizational requirements.
  • Assess and mitigate security risks, support system certification and accreditation, and help maintain compliance with federal and organizational standards.
  • Stay current on evolving technologies and recommend improvements that enhance performance, efficiency, and security.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant IT experience, including leadership or project coordination responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, Security+, or cloud platform credentials.
  • Prior experience supporting federal agencies, scientific operations, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with standards such as NIST, FISMA, or FedRAMP.
