Full Job Description
SUMMARY

The Systems & Infrastructure Engineer is a hands-on technical resource responsible for driving the execution of Sholom's technology roadmap and IT project backlog. This role exists to reduce organizational technical debt, modernize core infrastructure, and build the repeatable, documented systems that Sholom needs to operate reliably at scale across multiple campuses.

This is a project-execution role. You will own initiatives from design through delivery-infrastructure migrations, endpoint management, network improvements, workflow automation, and systems integrations-and leave behind documentation, templates, and procedures that enable the broader IT team to sustain and support what you build. You will work closely with IT leadership and report on progress against a defined roadmap, balancing project work with occasional escalation support for complex technical issues.

The right person for this role is a self-directed engineer who gets things across the finish line, documents their work without being asked, and knows how to translate a backlog of good intentions into operational reality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the migration of on-premises servers and VMware workloads to cloud or hybrid environments, following a defined decommission and transition plan.
  • Administer and harden Windows Server environments, Active Directory (AD), and related identity infrastructure including privilege management and group policy.
  • Manage endpoint platforms-transitioning from SCCM to Microsoft Intune-for consistent device configuration, patching, compliance enforcement, and mobile device management across all campuses.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Azure AD, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Lead the structured rollout of Microsoft Teams-including governance, channel design, calling, and meeting room integration-across the organization.
  • Improve and maintain SharePoint-based internal forms, intranet pages, and document management structures.
  • Own assigned projects from the IT Department Backlog and Technology Investment Roadmap through to completion-scoping, scheduling, executing, and closing with documented outcomes.
  • Lead structured vendor evaluations for new technology investments using weighted scoring criteria, POC environments, and documented recommendations.
  • Manage vendor relationships for assigned systems, holding partners accountable to SLAs, deliverables, and implementation timelines.
  • Support various other IT responsibilities as needed.
