Job Summary

The IT Engineer - Data Center supports enterprise data center infrastructure, operations, and modernization efforts across SHI
environments. This role requires hands-on infrastructure expertise, technical troubleshooting, documentation, vendor coordination, and cross-functional execution across server hardware, virtualization, monitoring, power, cabling, inventory management, compliance, and operational reliability.

This position is required to report to the Somerset, NJ location on a hybrid basis.

Role Description

This role helps bridge implementation planning, operational requirements, and long-term supportability for critical data center systems.
  • Support enterprise data center infrastructure across SHI facilities by maintaining server hardware lifecycle processes, rack and row organization, cabling standards, asset accuracy, environmental monitoring, and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to data center modernization initiatives involving Data Center Expert, Sunbird, PDU infrastructure, rack inventory, environmental alerting, device licensing, and power visibility to improve monitoring, capacity awareness, and infrastructure supportability.
  • Partner with infrastructure, networking, facilities, compliance, project management, purchasing, and vendor teams to coordinate technical requirements, resolve blockers, track deliverables, and move infrastructure projects forward.
  • Translate hands-on operational requirements into actionable implementation plans, technical documentation, inspection records, support procedures, and process improvements that increase repeatability and reduce dependency on tribal knowledge.
  • Provide practical infrastructure insight during planning discussions by identifying implementation risks, support challenges, monitoring gaps, and operational considerations that influence long-term solution success.

Other Requirements
  • Completed Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience required
  • CCNA certification is required upon hire, or must be obtained within six months of starting the role.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise networking environments, with hands-on experience in DNS, DHCP, and/or IPAM.


Preferred
  • CCNP or equivalent advanced networking certification
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale DDI architectures.
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, APIs) to improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience contributing to platform standardization, service catalogs, or reference architectures.
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments across on-premises, data center, and cloud-connected networks.


The estimated annual pay range for this position is $70,000 - $125,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
