Job Overview & Responsibilities

At United Launch Alliance (ULA), the Network Administrator III serves as a senior technical resource responsible for the administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of the enterprise network infrastructure. This role provides advanced support and expert-level troubleshooting across complex LAN, WAN, wireless, and network security environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, performance, and scalability.

The Network Administrator III leads the implementation of network enhancements, supports critical infrastructure initiatives, and drives resolution of escalated technical issues. Working closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and engineering partners, this position contributes to the design, deployment, and maintenance of secure, resilient network solutions that align with organizational objectives, operational requirements, and industry best practices. Through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and strategic planning, the role helps ensure the network environment remains robust, efficient, and capable of supporting ULA's mission-critical operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
    • Four years of directly related exempt work experience may be used to satisfy the bachelor's degree requirement
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting, administering, and optimizing enterprise-class network environments
  • Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles, including routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, Quality of Service (QoS), and multicast technologies
  • Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networking solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues in fast-paced, mission-critical environments
  • Experience supporting high-availability, multi-site network architectures, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational continuity
  • Strong understanding of network security concepts, industry best practices, and defense-in-depth methodologies
  • Advanced expertise with dynamic routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP, within enterprise and large-scale network environments
  • Proficiency administering enterprise switching platforms, including Cisco technologies and related network ecosystems
  • Hands-on experience managing next-generation firewalls and security appliances, such as Palo Alto Networks and Cisco ASA solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with experience utilizing network monitoring and diagnostic tools, including Wireshark, NetFlow, packet capture utilities, and performance analysis platforms
  • Experience implementing and supporting secure connectivity solutions, including IPsec VPNs, SSL VPNs, remote-access services, and site-to-site network communications
  • Ability to perform full lifecycle management of network infrastructure, including configuration, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and hardware refresh activities
  • Working knowledge of enterprise monitoring and management platforms such as SolarWinds for proactive network visibility, alerting, and performance optimization
  • Exceptional documentation and technical communication skills, with the ability to create and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, standard operating procedures, and change management records
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and technical leadership to support organizational objectives and continuous infrastructure improvement initiatives
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., bend, kneel, squat, stoop, work overhead, reach above shoulder level, sit, stand, walk (sometimes on uneven surfaces), and climb.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies
  • Exposure to cloud networking (Azure, AWS)
  • Experience supporting VoIP, unified communications, or QoS design
  • Knowledge of automation or scripting (Python, Ansible, PowerShell) for network tasks
  • Familiarity with NAC solutions (Cisco ISE)
