IPT Lead Staff Engineer, Energy Systems

About the Role

We are seeking an IPT Lead Engineer for Energy Systems to lead advanced development initiatives focused on energy technologies, material systems, and manufacturing process development. This role will drive cross-functional engineering efforts supporting innovation, technical capability expansion, and future product development initiatives.

The IPT Lead will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and quality teams to drive technical execution from concept development through manufacturing readiness. This position requires strong technical leadership, project execution capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively within highly collaborative engineering and manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams supporting advanced energy system development initiatives
  • Drive technical execution across development, testing, prototype, and manufacturing readiness activities
  • Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, risks, and technical deliverables
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams
  • Monitor project performance and implement mitigation plans to maintain program objectives
  • Facilitate technical and program review meetings and provide regular status updates to leadership
  • Support process improvement and scalability initiatives aligned with future production capabilities
  • Ensure alignment between technical execution and organizational strategic priorities
  • Maintain project documentation and support compliance with internal procedures and standards


Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading technical projects or engineering development programs within engineering, manufacturing, research & development, or technical environments
  • Experience supporting development efforts involving advanced materials, thermal systems, chemical processes, or energy-related technologies preferred
  • Experience within aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated industries preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of engineering development lifecycles and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams in fast-paced development environments
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools


Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification or equivalent project/program management training
  • Advanced degree in engineering, materials science, or related technical field
  • Familiarity with high-temperature systems, electrochemical technologies, or advanced material processing methods
  • Experience supporting prototype-to-production transitions


Work Environment

This position operates within both professional office and manufacturing/machine shop environments. The role requires interaction with standard office equipment as well as manufacturing areas requiring appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye, hearing, and foot protection where applicable.

Travel up to 25% may be required.

  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to handle or operate equipment
  • Required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, crouch, and move throughout office and manufacturing facilities

Pay Range: $137,000 to 150,000
