OverviewHexagon’s Autonomous Solutions business area is looking for a IP Protection Manager to join our legal and compliance team and manage our IP protection activities reporting to our VP, Business Area General Counsel and Compliance Officer.
The Location: This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, Morton, Illinois or Tucson, Arizona.
Responsibilities
As IP Protection Manager you will be responsible for these activities:
- Manage our internal patent process, shepherding invention disclosure from internal submission through patent grant with our external counsel
- Liase with our internal engineering, research and development, and accounting/finance teams and external counsel
- Become thoroughly familiar with our patent portfolio and corporate strategy, and keep the portfolio aligned with the strategy.
- Monitor the activities of competing parties in the marketplace, and provide regular summaries to management.
- Keep current on technology developments within Hexagon AS's space.
- Work closely with product and engineering management to ensure appropriate IP protection for product lines and key technology areas.
- Monitor spending, and plan activities within an annual budget
Qualifications
Must Have:
- M.Sc. in engineering, applied mathematics or applied physics and >=5 years experience, or
- B.Sc. in engineering, applied mathematics or applied physics and >=7 years of experience.
- Project management experience, >= 2 years experience
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with audiences of varying technical knowledge
Nice To Have:
- Strong understanding of positioning and localization
- Able to comprehend descriptions of technical methods and do comparative analysis\
- Geomatics specific knowledge
- Experience with patenting technology
- Programming ability - be able to read C/C++ or Matlab code
- Be able to read schematics
