Investment Analytics AnalystABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Ford Foundation is hiring an Investment Analytics Analyst to join the Investments division. Reporting to the Director of Asset Allocation and Liquid Markets, the Analyst will apply quantitative skills and experience to enhance the Foundation's asset allocation, risk management, and manager selection functions. The Analyst will be responsible for providing support in (i) risk measurement and portfolio reporting, (ii) maintenance and development of the team's internal analytics platform and tools, (iii) asset allocation research and portfolio construction, and (iv) evaluation of portfolio hedges or tactical trades.
The Analyst will work closely with every asset class team, provide analytical support across the endowment, assist in the evaluation and monitoring of investment managers, and help maintain and improve the team's internal analytics platform and tools. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized, problem-solver who brings strong quantitative skills and technical expertise. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Portfolio Data and Reporting
- Perform quantitative and risk analyses at the asset class-level and endowment-level, including factor analysis, stress testing, performance attribution, and return decomposition
- Prepare performance and exposure reports, market and risk dashboards, manager one-pagers, and meeting materials
- Perform data collection, cleaning, and management across asset classes
Analytics Platform and Tools
- Maintain and enhance the internal portfolio analytics platform
- Build analytical tools for evaluating prospective and existing investments and understanding portfolio exposures
- Use AI tools to streamline workflows and build new analytical capabilities
Asset Allocation and Portfolio Strategy
- Support asset allocation tasks and research, such as the biennial Policy Portfolio Reevaluation process and investment strategy market-mapping exercises
- Contribute to discussions regarding portfolio construction of the Foundation’s investments in externally-managed funds
Special Projects
- Provide analytical support for market risk hedging strategies and tactical trades that may be undertaken by the Foundation
- Assist in ad hoc special projects assigned by the CIO or the foundation’s leadership
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 2+ years of experience in investment management, quantitative research, or a related analytical role
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Well-developed quantitative and analytical skills with strong grounding in investment concepts
- Proficiency in a programming language (familiarity with MATLAB is a plus)
- Advanced Excel modeling skills
- Familiarity with Bloomberg
- Demonstrated experience in using AI tools for impactful work
- Ability to clean, manage, and analyze complicated datasets
- Proactive, detail-oriented and proficient at organizing complex tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily a sedentary role. However, the person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff, access files, office machinery and a copy machine/printer.
SALARY: The Ford Foundation is committed to practicing salary transparency. The starting salary for this position is $150,000. We review global compensation on a regular basis to ensure market competitiveness and equity. This position is eligible to participate in the Foundation’s Investment Division annual incentive award plan.
LOCATION: This position is based in the foundation’s New York office. We operate in a hybrid model and require staff to be in the office three days per week.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: This is a permanent position.
