Job Duties
The Internship Coordinator provides oversight for VDH internship opportunities, including the VDH Internship Academy, placement consideration for other individualized internship, practicum opportunities (paid/volunteer), Ambassador/Fellows opportunities, and assistance, as needed, with VA/MD WIC Dietetic internships. The VDH Internship Academy is a structured program for current or recent students to obtain experiential learning through existing career fields and projects. This position serves as the primary point of contact for objectives, initiatives, and inquiries related to the Academy and coordinates related program activities. Duties include marketing strategies, management of online applications and related communications with applicants, interview coordination with prospective host sites, onboarding coordination, IT logistics/services, program development and facilitation, evaluation strategies and compilation, community outreach and partnership building, and data collection, research, and reporting.
This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Public Health Infrastructure Grant for 1.5-year period ending 11/30/2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review 10/01/2027 and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
• Excellent oral and written communications, including public speaking.
• Demonstrated experience with program coordination and administration, research and evaluation, data collection and analysis, quality control methods, and ability to provide technical assistance.
• Proficiency with computer systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), as well as other video conferencing tools.
• Experience developing and using data collection instruments, such as RedCAP.
• Experience with marketing and communications initiatives, using a variety of professional and social media platforms.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing program evaluation strategies.
• Experience working with and manipulating datasets.
• Experience developing programmatic reports, including findings and recommendations.
Additional Considerations
• Public Health and/or communications experience
• Experience working with university students and Institutes of Higher Education preferred.
• Project management experience
