Job Description

As the International Tax Senior Associate, a national business line role, you'll be responsible for the review and delivery of U.S. international tax services for clients across various industries and market segments. You'll collaborate closely with managers, associates, and other teammates from around the globe to help clients identify and solve complex business problems through deploying a wide range of Grant Thornton solutions in a collaborative manner, ensuring quality above all, because together is how we succeed.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Providing international tax services that provide measurable value and advising clients from a range of different industries on international tax matters
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring associates and interns on international tax projects and assessing performance of associates for engagement reviews; performing in-charge role as needed
  • Reviewing complex business returns with international complexities and making recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in the review process
  • Researching and analyzing international and domestic tax issues; utilizing tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters
  • Writing and reviewing tax advice for clients
  • Responding to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities
  • Other duties as assigned


You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum two years' experience of progressive tax consulting, preferably with at least one year focused on international taxation
  • Experience with a large accounting firm, law firm, or corporate tax department of a multinational company
  • CPA or JD/active law license preferred
  • Advanced analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in U.S. tax compliance and consulting
  • Ability to supervise staff and lead projects
  • Exceptional client service skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can travel as needed


The base salary range for this position in Chicago IL only is between $111,320 to $123,420.

Grant Thornton employees may be eligible for a discretionary, annual bonus based on individual and firm performance, subject to the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria of the applicable bonus plan or program. Interns and seasonal employees are not eligible for bonus compensation.
