International Fragrance Sourcing Consultant About the RoleWe're looking for someone who knows how to find and buy full-size, genuine fragrance products through the international gray market (parallel/secondary distribution channels) - not directly from brands. You'll build a network of wholesalers, exporters, and distributors around the world, negotiate pricing, and make sure everything we bring in is authentic and properly documented.
This is a hands-on sourcing role for a fast-growing fragrance subscription business. You'll report to the COO and work closely with Purchasing, Quality, and Legal.
What You'll Do- Identify and vet international wholesalers, exporters, and parallel-market distributors who sell genuine full-size fragrance (regions like Dubai/UAE, Europe, Singapore, and others as needed)
- Build direct relationships and negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities, and payment terms
- Confirm authenticity and traceability of goods before purchase - including checking for counterfeit risk, verifying trademark/import compliance, and working with Legal on gray-market exposure
- Manage the full sourcing cycle: supplier discovery, sampling, quality checks, purchase orders, and logistics coordination
- Track import documentation (customs records, bills of lading, certificates of origin) to keep every purchase clean and defensible
- Monitor pricing trends and excess/closeout inventory across international markets to find the best deals
- Partner with Quality to inspect incoming full-size product for damage, mislabeling, or spec issues
- Keep a running supplier scorecard: reliability, pricing, lead times, and any red flags
- Stay current on brand trademark disputes and legal actions involving gray-market fragrance distributors, and flag risk early
What You'll Need- 10+ years in international sourcing, procurement, or supply chain - ideally in fragrance, beauty, or CPG
- Direct experience with gray-market or parallel-import sourcing (you understand how it's different from authorized distribution, and the legal gray areas involved)
- A working network of, or ability to quickly build relationships with, international fragrance wholesalers and exporters
- Comfort reading customs and trade data (bills of lading, import/export records) to vet suppliers
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts across currencies and time zones
- Working knowledge of trademark and parallel-import law as it applies to consumer goods (not a legal expert, but able to spot risk and loop in Legal)
- Willingness to travel internationally to meet suppliers and inspect goods
Nice to Have- Existing relationships with fragrance wholesalers in Dubai, Europe, or Singapore
- Experience in the fragrance subscription, discount beauty, or off-price retail space
- A second language (Arabic, Dutch, or another relevant to key sourcing regions)
A Note on What This Role IsThis role sources genuine, authentic full-size fragrance through parallel/secondary market channels - not counterfeit goods. Every supplier and shipment must be vetted for authenticity, and every deal reviewed for legal exposure before it closes.
