Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with design, development, and optimization of embedded software systems and AI models, with focus on optimization for resource-constrained hardware

• Support AI model inference and training on embedded platforms, utilizing decentralized and distributed training methodologies

• Support a software stack, including support for both inference and training processes

• Learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product performance

• Aid in monitoring and analyzing analyze equipment behavior using AI-driven approaches to detect anomalies in utility and metering systems

Duration: To start immediately, full-time hours for summer, potential for part time into fall academic term

Required Skills & Experience

• Education: Enrolled in a related degree program (preference for hardware, firmware, electrical, and/or advanced coursework in software)

• Exposure to embedded systems

• Intermediate programming abilities in languages such as C, C++, and Python for embedded systems.

• Strong mathematical skills (preference, linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics)

• Able to work onsite at Itron's San Jose office

• Professional workplace communication skills

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous academic or work experience on projects related to AI and/or embedded systems.

• Understanding of machine learning
