About the Role

Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off rotation

Hours: 12-hour shifts (6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.)

Reports To: Senior Underground Mining Engineer

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Senior Mine Engineer - Planning, key objectives of this position is to mentor the mine planners, ensure the short-term design requirements are met, complete the 3 month forecast and facilitate underground mine projects execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help create and instill a culture of safety as a mentor and trainer of the Mine Planning team.
  • Manage the short term Deswik schedule (0-3mo)
  • Manage underground project alignment and execution
  • Coordinate the workflow between the Operations Planning and Mine Planning teams.
  • Provide input, guidance and review on all stoping and development designs.
  • Assist with longhole drill and blast design, development design, and mine plan sequencing and scheduling as required.
  • Review and seek to optimize existing mine sequences to unlock efficiencies through innovative and creative thinking.
  • Conversion of LT/MT linework into executable short-term linework.
  • Report monthly and quarterly KPI's as required.
  • Assist the Longterm planning team with completion of reserve & resource generation, as required.
  • Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, review and update standards and best demonstrated practices in the Engineering department.


Qualifications
  • B.Sc. degree or Mining Technology diploma in Mining Engineering or suitable technical skills.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an underground mine.
  • Project coordination and project costing experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical, safe and cost-effective solutions.
  • Proficiency with mine planning computer software (Deswik IS, Deswik CAD, EPS, Mine 2-4D, Vulcan, Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening).
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members.
  • Ability to work with a diverse mix of cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior EITs
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work in a remote camp environment.


Working Conditions
  • 90% office / 10% underground work environment.


Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $120,000 to $125,000.
