Intermediate Property AccountantToronto, ON | 1 YorkThe Opportunity: The Intermediate Property Accountant adds value to BGO staff and clients by delivering accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information. This enables effective property and budget management, supports informed and timely decision-making, ensures clear financial reporting, and helps monitor and control cash flow.
This is a
hybrid position located in Toronto, ONWhat You Will Do:- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and client-specific reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards and requirements
- Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, operating cost and realty tax adjustments, and ensure accurate Balance Sheet reporting
- Manage tax compliance and remittances, including HST, GST, QST, property taxes, and other statutory obligations
- Monitor cash flow and property expenditures, including mortgages, payroll, management fees, taxes, capital and leasing costs, and determine surplus funds for owner distributions
- Support tenant accounting and billing, including reconciliations, statements of account, tenant analysis, and year-end operating cost recoveries
- Take ownership and accountability for the assigned portfolio, while collaborating with BGO teams and clients, improving processes, supporting colleagues, and contributing to BGO's environmental and social responsibility initiatives
Who You Are:Key Qualifications:- Enrolled in CPA program or equivalent post-secondary program.
- Previous full-cycle accounting experience an asset.
- 2-3 years residential/mixed-use property accounting experience an asset, including full cycle property accounting, CAM/Tax recoveries, and financial statement preparation.
- Computer Skills: intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of Yardi an asset.
