Your future role on our team

Join BBA and leverage your metals mining experience byactively contributing to mechanical engineering mandates of all kinds, fromstudies and condition assessments through to detailed engineering andcommissioning.

With us, you'll get the opportunity to:

  • Lead mechanical design and equipment selection for concentrator circuits (crushing, SAG/ball mill, flotation), including vendor coordination (Metso, FLSmidth, Weir)
  • Develop and review plant layouts, slurry systems, pumping systems and material handling designs in collaboration with process and piping teams
  • Support site work, including commissioning, troubleshooting and validating installed equipment in the field
  • Contribute to studies (PFS/FS) through to detailed design, including equipment sizing, specifications and bid evaluations
  • Develop scopes of work, budgets, methodologies and proposals
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers by actively sharing knowledge and supporting skill development within the team
  • Build trusting, high-quality business relationships
  • Be a project manager, engineering manager or project leader on engineering mandates within the mining industry (optional and based on skill level)

Summary of certifications and jobrequirements

  • 6-12 years of experience in mineral processing plants (metals); candidates with more or a little less experience may be considered
  • Mechanical engineer with a P.Eng. designation anywhere in Canada
  • In-depth knowledge of mineral processing equipment (for metals): bulk material handling, crushing and grinding circuits (crushers, SAG mills, ball mills), flotation circuits (flotation tanks and cells), leaching circuits, dewatering (cyclones and filter presses) and overall process plant layout
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to project sites, with valid driver's licence required
  • Asset: fluency in English, French and Spanish
  • Hands-on experience with crushing, SAG/ball mill circuits, flotation, pumps, piping and dewatering
  • Proven track record as a mechanical engineer with strong technical skills on mineral processing plant projects
  • Ability to interpret PFDs and process design criteria from process engineering, prepare plant layouts, select and validate mechanical equipment and size pumps
  • Ability to work on technically complex processing plants and restarts, not just standard layouts
  • Experience with studies (PFS/FS) through to detailed design and commissioning
  • Asset: site experience
