Full Job Description
We are seeking a Intermediate Hydrogeologist. We are seeking an Intermediate Hydrogeologist to be based in our Vancouver office, but other remote locations can be considered for the appropriate candidate (Nelson, Saskatoon, Quebec City). The candidate will work within our hydrogeology group, generally as part of larger interdisciplinary teams consisting of mining, geochemistry, water management, and engineering staff. The candidate will perform a range of tasks including field work planning and implementation, drill supervision, hydrogeological instrumentation installation and operation in deep environments (>250m), working with databases, aquifer testing, data analysis and interpretation, conceptual modeling, and reporting. Projects could include greenfield or brownfield, from exploration to operations to mine closure, with focus on environmental and/or engineering components. Experience with bedrock characterization, assessment and conceptual model development for open pit and underground mine projects, packer-isolated hydraulic testing, deep vibrating wire piezometer installation and other bedrock techniques is desirable. Specific activities can include: interpretation of field data and development of conceptual models, often coordinating with geochemists, structural geologists and geotechnical engineers; development of inputs to water and load balance models; estimates of pit or underground inflows; remedial options analysis; contributing to engineering designs; and, interpreting data on constructed remediation systems. The successful candidate will interact closely with hydrogeology and other discipline team members from junior to principal levels and will have a role in managing tasks and junior staff to achieve project goals and timelines, prepare reports and presentations for internal or external audiences. Essential Requirements: - A minimum of an undergraduate degree (masters or post-baccalaureate work preferred) in geology, geological/civil engineering, or physical geography, with emphasis on geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, environmental engineering, or geotechnical disciplines. - At least five years of experience, preferably in one or more of the disciplines listed above. Mining industry experience is a benefit (operational, exploration, or assessment). - Self-motivated and desire to work both as part of multi-disciplinary teams and independently. - Strong writing and communication skills. - Able to work on site independently with long hours in the field and variable weather conditions. - Experience with installation and operation of deep (>250m) groundwater instrumentation. - Willing to travel locally, nationally and possibly internationally. - Valid driver's license with a good driving record. - Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it. The estimated base pay range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
