What You Will Do

Building Enclosure Consulting is a specialized profession that involves the application of scientific principles and practical know-how to develop the right building enclosure solutions. These skills provide our clients with buildings that function reliably by preventing unwanted water intrusion, condensation, energy loss, air leakage, and physical deterioration.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare budgets and proposals for building enclosure services on a wide range of building and client types.
  • Review construction documents including architectural drawings, specifications, trade submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Evaluate existing buildings to identify enclosure problems and develop proper repair designs.
  • Prepare reports to summarize methodologies, observations, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Attend design phase, pre-construction, pre-installation, and construction progress meetings and provide technical expertise.
  • Conduct regular walk-through observations of building enclosure construction for compliance with contract documents, manufacturers' instructions, and industry standards.
  • Prepare field observation reports.
  • Perform field quality assessment and diagnostic testing to ASTM and AAMA standards.
  • Mentor and train other BPL staff on technical issues.
  • Periodically travel outside of the Denver metro area for project assignments.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' degree and/or technical diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline, or equivalent of industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in design and/or construction related work.

Skills:
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work at heights and travel to job sites (must have reliable transportation).
  • Software: Trimble SketchUp, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD a plus.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a Team, internally and externally.
  • Strong project management including project budgets and scheduling.
  • Experience in evaluating drawings, specifications, and other technical products and material data.
  • Understanding of key building enclosure technical issues and issues related to material durability and material compatibility.
  • Knowledge of ASTM and AAMA standard test methods.
  • Knowledge of construction assemblies for a variety of construction systems.
  • Good presentation skills and experience a plus.

For candidates located in Minnesota, Denver, and Washington, the estimated pay range for this position is $90,000 and $130,000. Final salary is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
