Full Job Description
The Intermediate Component Engineering Specialist is responsible for working with the R&D team in recommending and qualifying new components for new designs and maintaining viability of those components throughout production to maintain key metrics like "On Time Delivery" (OTD). The position provides opportunities to collaborate with key suppliers, work with databases, and PLM tools. A key task for the successful candidate requires development of internal databases/processes and external component tools/databases to provide real time reporting of potential industry issues. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Design & Manufacturing Support Engineering, and is part of the Component Engineering team located in Concord, Ontario and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Recommend and qualify new Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) components of moderate complexity for new product development projects with R&D.
  • Partner with Supply Chain professionals to mitigate sourcing issues of COTS components in production that threaten OTD
  • Use a lifecycle management process that integrates SCIEX PLM system to external COTS lifecycle tools to provide real-time reports to assess potential supply chain risks for new product development projects and recommending/scoping mitigation plans.
The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited University
  • 2+ years of experience working in Component Engineering
  • Experience with component lifecycle tools and databases (Silicon Expert knowledge is an asset).
  • Experience in selecting, defining and qualifying new COTS components of moderate complexity for new designs or for risk mitigations.
  • Experience in performing Bills of Material Risk Assessments.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Working knowledge on PLM tools (3D Experience knowledge an asset).
  • Experience working with contract manufacturing suppliers in the Pacific Rim area

The annual salary range for this role is $94,333 - $102,500 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
