Full Job Description
The role:

Saltworks is hiring an Intermediate Commissioning Engineer/Technologist to lead and execute commissioning activities for advanced clean technology systems for industry-leading clients. If you have an engineering background and experience in end-to-end project delivery, this role offers the opportunity to manage commissioning activities and oversee complex system integration.

You will take ownership of commissioning projects from planning through handover, collaborating closely with internal teams and clients to ensure successful system delivery. You will also mentor junior engineers and technologists, supporting their technical and professional development.

This position involves approximately 50% travel to customer sites, with field rotations typically lasting 2-3 weeks. Some projects may require longer stays or more frequent travel over a 6- to 12-week period, depending on customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead commissioning projects from initiation through completion, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver advanced clean technology systems.
  • Develop and manage commissioning budgets, schedules, and resource plans aligned with overall project timelines and objectives.
  • Standardize commissioning procedures for factory and field activities to improve efficiency, safety, and consistency.
  • Represent Saltworks at customer sites globally, ensuring high-quality system commissioning and successful handover to clients.
  • Provide engineering feedback from commissioning activities to support continuous design improvement and innovation.
  • Optimize commissioning workflows to improve performance, safety outcomes, and project delivery.
  • Build subject matter expertise while taking on increasing levels of technical and project leadership responsibility.

You will be a great fit if you have:
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally to customer sites without restrictions.
  • An Engineering degree or diploma (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Integrated, or a related discipline).
  • P.Eng. eligibility with EGBC is required for candidates applying as Professional Engineers.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commissioning or project delivery within industrial environments, including factory testing and field handover.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards for energized systems.
  • Proven experience commissioning in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Familiarity with hydrostatic testing, mechanical and electrical commissioning, and process control systems.
  • Strong ability to coordinate stakeholders with a safety-first mindset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and risk management.
