Role description:Arcadis is seeking an Intermediate Biologist to join our Ecological Services team in BC (Vancouver). The successful candidate will carry out desktop reviews and collect terrestrial and aquatic field data for ecological projects.

Role accountabilities:As a Biologist, you will apply your technical knowledge to provide high quality deliverables to support planning and permitting for a variety of projects. You will be an important member of the Ecological Services team interacting with other biologists and ecologists, environmental specialists, planners, engineers, senior technical experts and project/program managers as part of an interdisciplinary team.
You will be responsible for completing flora and fauna surveys, terrestrial and aquatic habitat delineation and assessments, and other environmental surveys. This will require a working knowledge of GPS systems and the ability to walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours.
This role will require the ability to travel, including overnight travel, which will be primarily during the field season.
You will be tasked with preparing technical reports, work plans, and other environmental documents to support environmental permitting, and you will lead the preparation of regulatory permit applications (e.g., DFO permits, Species at Risk Permits).
Additional tasks may include stakeholder engagement and indigenous consultation as well as liaison with government agencies.
Qualifications & Experience:Required qualifications for the role include:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or similar environmental discipline
- Master's degree is a plus
- 5+ years of experience conducting surveys including flora/fauna surveys, terrestrial and/or aquatic habitat assessments, as well as the completion of associated reporting
- Experience with regulatory compliance
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive reports and/or permit applications
Preferred qualifications for the role include:
- Registered Professional Biologist or similar registration, or eligibility for registration.
- Previous experience in the planning, permitting, and/or compliance with provincial or federal acts and regulations in support of oil and gas, mining, construction, infrastructure development and/or environmental protection projects.
The salary range for this position is $64,800 - $97,200. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
