Full Job Description
Located in Calgary, the individual in the Interim Senior Accountant role will report to the Supervisor, Accounting, Transportation. The Interim Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for leading accurate and timely reporting of capital projects across the Long Haul and Conventional pipeline systems. This role prepares and/or reviews analysis related to the capital project portfolio, governs month-end processes, and ensures financial information is consistent with IPL's accounting policies, internal controls, and IFRS requirements. This position is being posted as a 12-month contract term. Key Activities and Responsibilities • Lead the month-end capital close process and prepare and/or review components of monthly, quarterly, and annual capital reporting packages and disclosures (including ARO schedules), ensuring accuracy and completeness for internal and external reporting. • Prepare and/or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses related to capital projects; investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. • Assist with the preparation of monthly presentation materials for review by Transportation management. • Assist with classifying and creating AFEs in SAP, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and linkage to relevant contracts/purchase orders. • Maintain SOX-compliant documentation of capital processes, controls, and working papers. • Identify opportunities to streamline capital processes and reporting, and support implementation of improvements. • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders regarding the capital portfolio, policies, and procedures; escalate complex issues as needed. • Ensure adherence to Inter Pipeline's accounting policies, internal controls, the Income Tax Act, IFRS, and contractual requirements by following established procedures and practices. Education, Skills and Experience • CPA designation and 5 to 8 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in capital or project accounting. • Working knowledge of IFRS and internal controls; oil & gas or capital project experience considered an asset. • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Effective communicator (written and verbal) with ability to build strong working relationships across functions. • Proficient in Excel; experience with SAP S/4HANA and Analysis for Office is considered an asset. Hours Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week Interim position for a 12 month contract term As this position is identified security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
