Full Job Description
The Bishop's School seeks a full-time mathematics teacher with immediate start. This is an interim position for the remainder of the [redacted] school year. The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching mathematics at the high school level and will demonstrate capacity to teach a range of math subjects from second year algebra through honors-level calculus. Capacity to teach linear algebra is strongly preferred. The Mathematics Department seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about working with teaching teams and other departmental colleagues to develop, iterate upon, and align our student-centered mathematics curriculum. The interim mathematics teacher will perform duties consistent with requirements for Bishop's faculty members including communicating regularly with students, parents, and administrators regarding student progress, supervising students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day and after school, and hosting daily office hours. Responsibilities Include: • Teach four sections of math • Engage in co-curricular activities as assigned • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area • Collaborate with departmental colleagues in the development of curriculum and meaningful, relevant, learner-centered classroom experiences • Provide timely communication to students and their parents/guardians relating to grading and current academic standing • Employ a variety of pedagogical approaches to teach students with an array of learning styles • Be available to students during office hours and at other times throughout the day to provide guidance and support as needed • Uphold the School's Core Values • Demonstrate professionalism and tact • Comply with School's reporting policies and procedures Required Qualifications: • A bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field; advanced degree preferred • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in high school mathematics • Ability to teach both on-level and honors-level students • Ability to teach lower-level as well as advanced-level (e.g. multivariable calculus) math courses • Unequivocal passion for working with adolescents and supporting them in all facets of their lives • Demonstrated commitment to and competency in diversity, equity, inclusion and justice as expressed in the School's Core Values statement • Ability to integrate technology into instruction • Enthusiasm to collaborate with other department and grade-level team members in creating meaningful, relevant, learner-centered classroom experiences • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community • Strong work ethic, as well as time management, verbal, written language, and interpersonal skills • Irrespective of own religious orientation, the ability to support the School's mission and values as a school founded in the Episcopal tradition • Commitment to well-being as the foundation for growth The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 based on experience. Offered salary will be prorated according to start date.
