Job Description

The role of Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for process facilities.
  • Prepare P&IDs, control narratives, I/O lists, and instrumentation specifications.
  • Specify and select field instrumentation, including flow, pressure, temperature, level, and analytical devices.
  • Develop PLC/DCS logic and HMI interfaces as applicable.
  • Support process control strategies, including loop tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments, SIL reviews, and safety evaluations.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and civil disciplines to ensure integrated engineering solutions.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations and vendor coordination.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and field assignments.
  • Ensure instrumentation and control systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, including ISA, CSA, NEC, and hazardous area classifications.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, calculations, design packages, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
  • Conduct field reviews, site investigations, and equipment verification activities.
  • Assist with the development of project scopes, estimates, schedules, and proposals.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to process reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in coordinating and reviewing the work of junior engineers, CAD designers, and technicians as required.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and delivering fully integrated design solutions.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage numerous issues and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • All other duties as required.

  • Familiarity with applicable industrial codes and standards including ISA, CSA, NEC, NFPA, and IEC standards preferred.
