Role: I&E Technician II

Job Description

The Instrument and Electrical Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems supporting oil and gas production and processing operations. This role ensures equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

The technician will work closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to support ongoing plant operations, maintenance activities, troubleshooting efforts, and new installations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in electrical systems and instrumentation controls within industrial or oil and gas environments.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Install, maintain, test, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems associated with production and processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Evaluate electrical and control systems and develop repair or maintenance plans.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance programs and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance teams and other technicians during troubleshooting and repair activities.

Operations & Technical Support

  • Support operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
  • Review control specifications, work practices, and electrical system requirements.
  • Assist with new installations, modifications, and upgrades to electrical and control systems.
  • Generate and support Management of Change (MOC) processes related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Conduct inspections and verify installations are compliant with operational and safety standards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures, standards, and regulations.
  • Utilize Permit to Work Systems (PTWS) and ensure compliance with safe work practices.
  • Participate in safety meetings, technical discussions, and operational reviews.
  • Maintain compliance with operational integrity and maintenance management systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Communication & Team Support

  • Maintain open communication with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams.
  • Assist in training and mentoring less experienced technicians as needed.
  • Attend and facilitate technical meetings regarding instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Support work prioritization and coordination across maintenance and operations groups.
  • Serve as backup support for lead technician responsibilities when required.

  • Ability to work effectively in team-based operational environments.

Role Details:

Location: Midland, TX

Pay: $77.85/hr

Schedule: 5/2 M-F 40 hours/week with potential for weekly on call rotation
