SUMMARYThe Department of Higher Education and Educational Leadership at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Instructor of Educational Leadership position. This position encompasses a comprehensive array of responsibilities central to advancing academic excellence and intellectual discourse. The successful candidate will be tasked with delivering high-quality instruction, guiding doctoral candidates through rigorous research endeavors, conducting innovative investigations, disseminating knowledge through peer-reviewed publications, nurturing students' personal and professional growth, ensuring program relevance and rigor, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive academic environment that promotes the exchange of ideas and the advancement of the field. This is a 12-month academic position, eligible for continuing appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 2027. This position is primarily remote, with the expectation that you will be on campus once a semester.
JOB FUNCTIONS Essential Functions Teaching (70%)- Teaches a 4-4-2 course load each academic year. For these purposes, a course refers to a 3-credit course or equivalent.
- Teaches graduate-level (post-masters) online courses.
- Creates effective course materials, as provided in Teaching Portfolio, and demonstrates successful student learning outcomes.
- Provides dissertation advisement and serves as chair of the dissertation committee.
- Contributes to curriculum design and development.
- Provides academic advisement and mentorship.
- Uses student instructional assessment survey (IAS) results to inform continuous improvement.
Scholarship (5-10%)- Engages in scholarly activities to produce scholarly publications, presentations, and related scholarly work.
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field.
Service (20-25%)- Actively participates in department level meetings and serves on at least one additional department committee per academic year. Faculty at this level are also expected to serve on college level committees.
- Contributes to the department, School, and University through service activities as assigned by the Director of the Educational Leadership Program or Department Chair, including student advising and dissertation supervision.
- Attends on campus seminar once a month.
REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications:- PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership, Organizational Communication, or a related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Experience working in a leadership role within the P-12 setting
- Experience teaching graduate-level in an online course at an accredited higher education institution
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be a New York State resident by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:- Doctoral-level advisement and dissertation committee experience at an accredited higher education institution
- Evidence of curriculum development and program evaluation
- Success in administering programs in P-12 education, including strategic planning, effective communications, operations, and collaboration with colleagues
- Understanding policies, best practices, challenges, and opportunities in complex, diverse organizations
