Job Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement for training, reference, and performance support materials consistent with Habit's culture and mission. This will require a creative and innovative approach to learning that can accommodate the fast-paced restaurant environment. The focus is primarily on development and delivery within an online and blended learning environment. This position will report to the Manager, Learning and Development, will be based at our home office located in Irvine, CA and requires some local travel.

Essential Job Functions

Project Management
• Effectively manages multiple projects at one time, while achieving project goals and meeting deadlines.
• Manages and evaluates project priorities based on business needs and strategies.
• Collaborates with Operations and other cross-functional teams to achieve best solutions and mutual commitments within a project.
• Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Subject Matter Experts.

Design & Development
• Conduct needs assessments to identify skills or knowledge gaps and ensure training is accurate, relevant, and accessible.
• Provides learning solutions and performance improvement guidance for complex cross-functional projects and initiatives.
• Design and develop effective and engaging learning materials, using eLearning authoring tools, Adobe InDesign, and MS Office.
• Evaluates effectiveness of delivered training programs by identifying and assessing learning outcomes and makes recommendations for improvements.
• Plans, shoots, and edits simple instructional videos.
• Provides recommendations for continuous improvement based on evaluation data, field and SME feedback, personal observation, and external best practices.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements
• Highly creative and looking to apply this creativity in the form of interactions, multimedia inclusion, and motivation strategies to produce unique and successful learning programs.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills including the ability to write concise, creative, and effective instruction, specifically for training.
• Effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously; executes initiatives on time.
• Ability to effectively partner and communicate with Operations and the Home Office with people at all levels and in all functions within the organization; proven ability to understand and respond to a diverse population.
• Proven ability to produce quality results using rapid development methods and tools.

Minimum Requirements
• BA or BS Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Communications, English, Business, or related discipline. Combinations of certificate and work experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of instructional design experience.
• Proficient in eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise).
• Experience in video creation and editing.
• E-learning portfolio required when submitting application.

Salary Range: $88,500 - $104,000 annually + bonus eligibility + benefits
