Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Instructional Course Designer for the National Transit Institute. The Instructional Designer position reports to the National Transit Institute's (NTI) Learning and Development Manager. The role is responsible for the development, enhancement, and continuous improvement of high-quality training programs for the public transit industry.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Applies instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and learning technologies to create engaging, accessible, and industry-relevant learning experiences.
  • Works collaboratively with NTI leadership, colleagues, subject matter experts, instructors, transit professionals, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and other external stakeholders to manage the instructional design process from initial needs analysis through course design, development, implementation, evaluation, and revision.
  • Develops content that supports in-person instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, blended, and online learning programs delivered to transit professionals nationwide.
  • Plays a critical role in expanding NTI's course portfolio, ensuring instructional consistency, strengthening course effectiveness, and ensuring that NTI's training programs respond to the evolving workforce development needs of the public transit industry.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, adult learning, training and development, organizational development, human resource development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education/training and relevant advanced professional experience.
  • Two or more years of professional instructional design or curriculum development experience.
