Position SummaryThe primary role of the Government Inside Sales Representative is developing and maintaining relationships with United States and foreign government agencies and public sector clients to generate sales opportunities and support company growth. This role manages inbound and outbound sales activities, prepares quotes and proposals, follows up on bids and contracts, and works closely with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery of products or services. This new role replaces our current Aftermarket Defense Account Manager role that includes outside sales responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities- Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, contracts, and availability
- Prepare and submit quotes, proposals, and bid documentation in accordance with government requirements
- Negotiate price and terms and secure purchased orders on quoted opportunities
- Follow up on open quotes, bids, and contract opportunities to maximize sales conversion
- Assist in sales forecasting activities to support budget planning and financial reporting
- Obtain target pricing and insight into competitors to bolster margins on competitive and sole sourced aftermarket business opportunities
- Forge effective working relationships with sales, engineering, quality and operations in the business to successfully champion customer interests
- Develop and maintain relationships with government customers and distributors
- Generate new business opportunities through outbound calls, emails, and lead follow-up
- Maintain knowledge of government purchasing processes, contracts, and procurement regulations
- Track sales activities, opportunities, and customer interactions
- Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and logistics teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment
- Maintain current knowledge of company products, services, and competitive offerings
- Assist with contract renewals and ongoing account activities
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance metrics
- Produce effective verbal and written communication
- Effectively utilize ERP and CRM systems as well as basic business software programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
Position Requirements- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- 5+ years' experience in customer service/inside sales in the aerospace/defense aftermarket
- Understanding of the US FARs/DFAR's and solicitation processes
- Polished presentation and communication skills
- The initiative and ability to develop, implement, and achieve ambitious performance goals
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capability to work with ITT's diverse and global employee base including the ability to motivate, energize, and enhance the performance of teammates
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Customer focused attitude - the ability to be flexible and adaptive to support accounts in whatever ways may be required to bolster partnerships
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of government procurement processes is a plus
