Inhalation Technician Specialist. This position is a full-time opportunity located in
West Jefferson, OH.Battelle's Inhalation Technology & Aerobiology department is seeking a skilled technician whose primary responsibility is to provide technical support for task work and maintenance within our inhalation sciences program. This role supports the Battelle Biomedical Research Center's Aerobiology and Chemical Surety laboratories, as well as Life Science Research inhalation toxicology operations.
The selected individual will interface with study directors and may take on responsibilities related to supervision, data technical review and analysis, and inhalation report writing. Additional responsibilities include qualification and validation of equipment and software, as well as supporting the construction and characterization of aerosol and vapor generation and sampling systems.
Responsibilities As a Inhalation Technician Specialist, the selected individual will provide critical technical and scientific support across inhalation research and aerobiology operations. Responsibilities may include:
- Interfacing with study directors to support the planning and execution of inhalation studies
- Supporting the design, construction, and characterization of aerosol and vapor generation and sampling systems
- Performing qualification and validation of laboratory equipment and software as needed
- Conducting data technical review and analysis, and contributing to inhalation report writing
- Providing supervisory support as needed within the inhalation team
- Performing QC review of data to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Ensuring all equipment and reagents, along with their respective logbooks and records, are properly maintained
- Maintaining inhalation equipment and troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Performing task-specific work in support of ongoing studies and laboratory operations
Key Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in biology, analytical chemistry, engineering, pharmacology, toxicology, or a related field with 5-7 years of industry experience; or 10+ years of industry experience in lieu of a degree
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, give and receive direction, and exercise self-motivation and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Willingness to be immunized with licensed and FDA-approved Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for individuals at occupational risk of exposure to biological agents, and willingness to participate in periodic drug screening
- Must pass a physical examination to work in a BSL-3 containment laboratory, including medical clearance to wear a respirator
- Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays on an as-needed basis
- Commitment to maintaining a strong attendance record and punctuality
- Sole US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with plethysmography systems, including Buxco, Ponemah, or similar software, and associated system validations
- Experience in the dissemination of aerosols and vapors using various generation devices
- Experience in the design, construction, and characterization of systems for the dissemination of aerosols (dry powders and wet suspensions) in the respirable mass range, or vapors
- Experience handling microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses, and biological toxins
- Experience in animal handling
Compensation Data Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $71,200 - $101,400 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
