LOCATION: Walnut Creek, CA


Client is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Mid-level Water/Wastewater Engineer to help in the planning, design, and construction of wastewater facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Entry Level Engineer:
  • Serve as an engineer on the planning, design, construction, and/or commissioning of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects
  • Perform data entry and analysis
  • Perform system modeling and hydraulic calculations to size and select facilities
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Perform permitting and alternatives analysis
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, plans and specifications, and other deliverables
  • Perform engineering services during construction, including reviewing contractor submittals for conformance with contract documents contractor requests for information
  • Participate in field activities, such as site visits, overseeing field work, and pilot testing
  • Travel may be required depending on the project assignment but most projects are local.
Professional Engineer through Senior Engineer additional responsibilities could include:
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Experience delivering and managing water/wastewater infrastructure projects with partial responsibility for budget, schedule, contract obligations, and quality standards
  • Ability to deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints
  • Assist with coordinating sub-consultant work
  • May serve as project manager on small to medium sized projects and would assume all project manager responsibilities.
  • Assist project manager with the planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing of the work of the project team, including: environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/controls engineers; drafters, technicians; technical experts; and subconsultants
  • Assist project manager with meeting budget, schedule, and quality goals
  • Perform data analysis, system modeling, and hydraulic calculations to size and select facilities
  • Contribute to a culture of effective communication among project teams, clients, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, especially at the staff level
  • Assist with proposal preparation, including development of scopes of work and engineering fee estimates
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring of project staff and entry level engineers

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in civil or environmental engineering or related engineering field
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California or EIT certification or passed FE exam
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques to develop options and recommendations to solve technical problems
  • Active in professional associations, including attendance and participation in local, regional, and national conferences
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Highly motivated and self-starting
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Masters in engineering is preferred
  • Entry Level Engineer: 0-4 years of experience in planning, design, and/or construction of water/wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Professional Engineer: 4-8 years of experience
  • Mid Level Engineer: 6-12 years of experience
  • Senior Level Engineer: 12+ years of experience
