Senior Back-End CAD Infrastructure and Tools Engineer
Austin, Texas | Full-Time | On-Site/Hybrid.

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Back-End CAD Engineer to join our silicon engineering team in Austin, TX. This is a high-impact technical leadership position with broad influence across CAD infrastructure, design methodology, physical implementation, and the future direction of our silicon strategy. What You'll Do
Back-End CAD Leadership
Lead, build, and pilot the Cadence Back-End Flow from the ground up
Own and continuously evolve synthesis and physical implementation methodologies
Develop advanced-node implementation strategies optimized for performance, power, area (PPA), and schedule
Collaborate cross-functionally with Front-End, Physical Design, STA, DFT, and Technology teams to align methodology with design goals
EDA Tool Ownership
Serve as the internal subject matter expert for Synopsys Fusion Compiler and Cadence Synthesis flows
Own and optimize physical signoff and optimization toolchains
Evaluate, deploy, tune, and scale flows for advanced process nodes
Drive tool benchmarking and methodology comparisons across EDA vendors to ensure best-in-class results
AI-Enabled Design Innovation
Lead the evaluation of emerging AI-assisted EDA capabilities and agentic design workflows
Develop and own the roadmap for AI-enabled Back-End design within the PEU Silicon organization
Position the team at the forefront of intelligent, automated design implementation
What You Bring
Extensive hands-on experience with Cadence and Synopsys Back-End design flows
Deep expertise in synthesis, place and route, and physical signoff at advanced process nodes
Proven ability to lead methodology development and drive it across multi-disciplinary teams
Strong understanding of PPA tradeoffs and implementation strategies at leading-edge nodes
Experience with or strong interest in AI/ML applications in EDA and design automation
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across engineering organizations

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan (select STV or SIP): Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
