Job Summary

As the Information Technology (IT) Specialist - Digital Engineering Systems at BPMI, you will be responsible for leading complex technical projects that support the deployment, integration, and maintenance of modern enterprise systems and digital transformation initiatives. This role focuses on deploying, integrating, and administering digital transformation applications so they work together effectively at a system level (for example, Teamwork Cloud, Syndeia, Jira, Windchill, or similar systems).

The position also emphasizes designing, implementing, and managing containerized and cloud-based environments that provide a scalable, secure foundation for these tools. You will collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to understand business needs, design and implement scalable solutions, and provide technical leadership throughout the system lifecycle while ensuring alignment with cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and administration of digital transformation and engineering-focused applications, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and aligned with user needs and operational workflows.
  • Design, deploy, and optimize containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies) and related infrastructure to host and integrate key applications, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Oversee integrations between legacy systems and modern applications, enabling digital transformation through improved data interoperability, uninterrupted operations, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Enable interoperability by collaborating across engineering, operations, and IT teams to integrate deployed systems with related tools and workflows, supporting digital thread connectivity, consistent data updates, and cross-tool traceability.
  • Manage the end to end lifecycle of IT projects, driving efficient scoping, planning, execution, and delivery while meeting technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Support user enablement by working with stakeholders to define requirements, translating them into practical technical solutions, and promoting effective adoption of new tools and workflows through training and documentation.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including IT, engineering, procurement, quality, and leadership functions, to ensure system deployments are aligned with broader digital transformation strategies and operational improvements.
  • Monitor the performance and health of deployed systems and containerized platforms, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve system reliability, security, and user experience.
  • Define and implement governance workflows for data integrity and configuration management across tools, enabling data driven decision making, facilitating risk mitigation, and documenting technical processes, lessons learned, and configurations to ensure long term sustainability and knowledge sharing.
  • The essential duties identified are representative but are not intended to be an exhaustive or inclusive list of all the responsibilities of the position.

What You Can Expect:

  • A culture that values people through recognition of accomplishments, work-life balance, and a sense of community.
  • A diverse group of talented individuals working toward the common goal of supporting the United States Navy in their pursuit of national security.
  • Competitive and attractive pay and benefits with a stable organization.
  • Opportunities to participate in BPMI sponsored committees and clubs, each with their own mission and purpose.
  • Career advancement and professional development programs.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related degree, from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience including IT systems deployment, infrastructure management, and/or software development.
  • Advanced degrees (e.g., Master's, Ph.D.) may be considered as a partial substitute for required experience, depending on the relevance to the position, but may not fulfill the entire experience requirement.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
