Information Management Analyst

Position Overview

Our client, a leading organization in the energy industry, is seeking an experienced Information Management Analyst to support enterprise-wide information governance and information lifecycle management initiatives.

This role is responsible for performing analytical, technical, and business-focused activities that support the effective management of information across the organization. The Information Management Analyst will help maintain information management frameworks, taxonomies, metadata structures, retention schedules, and data maps while partnering with stakeholders to improve information quality, accessibility, compliance, and overall governance.

The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and capable of working across multiple business functions to implement information management best practices and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Support enterprise Information Management and Information Governance programs and initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance taxonomies, metadata standards, classification schedules, retention schedules, and data maps.
  • Lead and support projects focused on identifying and eliminating redundant, obsolete, and trivial (ROT) content.
  • Assist with the migration of unstructured content into approved enterprise repositories and systems.
  • Analyze business processes related to information management and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Compile, evaluate, and interpret information management metrics and statistical data.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and analyses to support decision-making and program effectiveness.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, to perform data analysis.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for Information Management projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand information management needs and develop practical solutions.
  • Partner with Information Technology teams to enhance and maintain information management systems.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and support user adoption of information management best practices.
  • Support quality assurance and standardization efforts across Information Management processes.
  • Participate in additional Information Management activities and projects as needed.

Qualifications

Required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Information Management, Information Governance, Records Management, Content Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with enterprise content management or document management platforms such as SharePoint, Documentum, OpenText, or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of information lifecycle management principles and best practices.
  • Experience organizing, analyzing, and managing large volumes of information and records.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across multiple departments and levels of an organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • Experience developing and maintaining taxonomies, metadata frameworks, classification schedules, records retention schedules, and data maps.
  • Experience supporting content migration, information cleanup, or ROT remediation projects.
  • Knowledge of Information Governance and Records & Information Management (RIM) methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience within energy, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation or information modernization initiatives.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, Records Management, Library Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
