Overview

The Industry Partnerships & Engagement Coordinator III will create and lead a new Industry Engagement Office (IEO) within the College of Arts and Sciences (ArtSci) at Utah State University. The IEO will serve as a strategic coordination and support unit to enhance industry relationships, improve student career outcomes, and align directly with state priorities to tie funding in higher education to measurable workforce alignment, transparent performance metrics, and direct collaboration with industry. The IEO will serve as the operational vehicle within the College of Arts and Sciences to meet and exceed these requirements, working in close collaboration with other colleges and departments across the University.

The IEO will address gaps in industry engagement in the college in several ways:
  • Act as a strategic enabler for faculty seeking to engage more with industry and measure outcomes.
  • Cultivate healthy relationships that can support partnerships with industry and establish sustainable industry funding avenues for research and program support.
  • Leverage funding opportunities from the State of Utah for higher ed/industry partnerships, particularly to improve student experience.
  • Work closely with college and department leadership to incentivize and reward outreach for faculty.
  • Coordinate efforts with other college units including the Strategic Enrollment team and the Internship Hub.

Success for the IEO will be measured by increased internships, improved job placement rates, expanded employer participation, and enhanced program alignment with workforce needs. Metrics will include enrollment trends, completion rates, placement statistics, and employer engagement levels. These outcomes will align college efforts with student outcomes, and enhance competitiveness for future funding.

The Industry Partnerships & Engagement Coordinator III will be hired at the University's Professional Contributor III level and collaborate closely with college leadership, faculty, staff, and technical teams to ensure alignment, readiness, and successful project adoption.

This position is ideal for individuals who excel in navigating complexity, facilitating change, and driving strategic execution.

Responsibilities

Strategic College-Wide Coordination
  • Coordinate industry engagement efforts across existing ArtSci units, including the Strategic Enrollment Team and Internship Hub
  • Provide industry-informed guidance for filling strategic gaps in ArtSci students' workforce readiness by aligning industry and academic expectations for activities and workforce infrastructure such as job-shadowing, internships, and education or apprenticeship pipelines.
  • Enable and empower college faculty across all ArtSci departments to engage more with industry, leverage existing industry contacts, and measure student outcomes to more directly support student employment outcomes.
  • Provide infrastructure and support to leverage existing ArtSci faculty contacts and foster new faculty-led industry connections.
  • Work closely with college leadership and all 16 ArtSci departments to implement strategic guidance.
  • Advise ArtSci leadership on industry priorities to direct college funding toward programs that address workforce needs and deliver a high return on investment for students and industry partners.

University & Cross-College Collaboration
  • Work with University, college, and departmental leadership to incentivize and reward outreach through faculty promotion and tenure processes.
  • Collaborate with other colleges across the university to identify and leverage mutually beneficial partnerships and initiatives to improve student outcomes.

Industry Engagement & Partnership Management
  • Identify and pursue sustainable avenues for industry funding for ArtSci research and program support. Enable ArtSci faculty to leverage appropriate industry funding for high-value programs.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities from the State of Utah to foster academic/industry partnerships and improve student experiences. Enable ArtSci faculty to leverage appropriate state funding for high-value programs.
  • Identify, develop, and manage new and existing partnerships and connections with industry partners and potential employers.
  • Work closely with industry partners to enhance career pathways and improve student employability.

Program Management
  • Develop procedures for faculty engagement and effective cross-college collaboration that avoids duplication and respects existing relationships.
  • Compile and track enrollment trends, completion rates, placement statistics, and employer engagement levels.
  • Use workforce data to understand current and future job demand, skills requirements, placement rates, and post-graduation wages.
  • Leverage student outcome data and market intelligence to improve data-driven decision making and inform program offerings industry partnerships that enhance career pathways.
  • Provide strategic leadership on academic/industry partnerships at the college level.
  • Implement a CRM platform to manage industry relationships, track engagement, and support data-driven decision-making while ensuring role-based access, transparency and respecting faculty autonomy and data sensitivity.
  • Oversee staff and interns.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, project management, communication, information systems, organizational development, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years professional experience coordinating or managing projects using project management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership in program management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years managing complex projects, programs, or administrative initiatives using project management principles.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or other enterprise IT systems (CRM, ERP, student information systems, financial systems, etc.).
  • Experience with program development and evaluation.
  • Experience with enterprise-level reporting, governance structures, and portfolio management.

  • Demonstrated ability to collect and manage data, compile information, and prepare reports.
