Responsibilities

  • Assess and conduct risk surveillance regarding materials and chemicals.
  • Develop, implement, and improve industrial hygiene programs and exposure monitoring strategies.
  • Plan and conduct exposure monitoring and sampling using various methods.
  • Maintain Industrial Hygiene data management systems and ensure calibration standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on air quality and chemical management.
  • Advise management on industrial hygiene issues and risk management decisions.
  • Teach health and safety classes and assist in accident investigations.

Industrial Hygiene Health & Safety Rep

Bell is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to support our Safety program at Bell's headquarters in Fort Worth, TX. The successful candidate will manage the development, implementation, and strengthen the industrial hygiene program at Bell Facilities.

What you'll be doing as an Industrial Hygiene Health & Safety Rep
• Assess and conduct surveillance of risk associated with materials and chemical use; complete hazard and chemical assessments for various departments; review new and innovative processes for potential hazards.
• Develop, implement, document, maintain, and continuously improve comprehensive industrial hygiene programs and ongoing exposure monitoring strategies to identify deviations in exposure profiles, verify control effectiveness, and meet business and regulatory requirements.
• Plan and conduct exposure monitoring by reviewing regulatory requirements, designing and implementing sampling strategies, and performing air and other sampling using indirect and direct-reading instruments to quantify hazards.
• Maintain the Industrial Hygiene data management system (database) and manage Industrial Hygiene equipment calibration standards to ensure accurate, reliable exposure and hazard data.
• Serve as subject matter expert in indoor air quality, sampling media and methodologies, and chemical management; interpret exposure monitoring results, recognize and investigate potential health effects associated with chemical agents, and develop recommendations to control exposures.
• Advise management and health services on industrial hygiene issues, recommending actions to prevent or minimize health hazards and providing industrial hygiene input to risk management decision-making processes.
• Teach health and safety classes, assist in accident and incident investigations, and work with all levels of leadership, health services, and collectively bargained employees to build understanding of and compliance with industrial hygiene and safety requirements.

Skills You Bring to This Role:
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health, or a similar technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of Health Safety & Awareness (HSA) experience supporting research and development, industrial operations/production, or field service operations.
• Prior manufacturing experience preferred, along with certifications or active pursuit of industry-recognized Safety, Health, or Environmental credentials; Six Sigma and Confined Space certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in PC-based applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) and experience using industrial hygiene instrumentation such as sound level meters, PIDs, 4-channel gas analyzers, and personal sample pumps.
• Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety regulations and consensus standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA) and experience in identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards associated with chemical handling and storage.
• Demonstrated project management, organizational, and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and coordinate work, organize and assess historical data for trending, risk identification/mitigation, and concern investigations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills for working effectively with individuals at all levels inside and outside the department, including conflict resolution and problem-solving.
