Full Job Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Industrial HVAC Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of HVAC and refrigeration systems used throughout LNG operations. This role focuses on ensuring critical environmental control systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably in process areas, electrical and control buildings, administrative facilities, and other plant infrastructure.

The Industrial HVAC Engineer collaborates closely with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and HSE teams to optimize system performance, support facility reliability, and maintain compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and engineering support for industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems across LNG production and support facilities.
  • Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, equipment availability, and operating costs.
  • Lead or support troubleshooting efforts, failure investigations, and root cause analyses related to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Develop and enhance preventive maintenance programs, reliability initiatives, and long-term asset management strategies.
  • Review engineering deliverables, equipment specifications, design packages, system modifications, and vendor-supplied documentation.
  • Partner with internal teams, contractors, and equipment suppliers during construction, commissioning, maintenance, and system upgrade activities.
  • Ensure HVAC-related systems and activities comply with applicable safety requirements, engineering standards, environmental regulations, and company procedures.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews, risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and compliance audits.
  • Provide engineering support for capital improvement projects, planned outages, turnarounds, and facility expansions involving HVAC equipment.
  • Maintain current engineering records, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation to support safe and reliable operations.


Qualifications

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
  • Industry certifications or advanced training related to HVAC systems, refrigeration technology, or industrial cooling systems are preferred.

Experience
  • At least five years of experience in industrial HVAC engineering within LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, refining, or other large industrial environments.
  • Hands-on experience with chilled water systems, industrial ventilation, building pressurization systems, refrigeration equipment, and critical climate-control systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry practices and standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, API, and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience supporting equipment commissioning, plant startups, and operational troubleshooting activities is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of industrial HVAC and refrigeration system design, operation, maintenance, and reliability principles.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize workload in a dynamic operating environment.
  • Proficiency with engineering applications, HVAC load calculation tools, and technical document management systems.
