Full Job Description
We are looking for a Industrial Engineering & Digital Operations Excellence Manager . This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is seeking an Industrial Engineering & Digital Operations Excellence Manager for our Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit, with a focus on the PACS Assembly Center / Protection & Automation Panels operations in Wendell, NC.

Reporting to the PACS Plant Manager, this leader will build and lead the Industrial Engineering / OpEx capability for a greenfield, assembly-line facility (no raw material processing/prefab) and establish a scalable operating system to support rapid growth. The role owns end-to-end Industrial Engineering fundamentals (line design/balance, labor standards, standard work, capacity models) and a digital factory roadmap that turns data into daily action-integrating Lean management with practical Industry 4.0 enablement to drive measurable gains in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity.

You'll make an impact by:
  • Building and leading the site Industrial Engineering strategy for assembly operations: line layout/design, workstation optimization, labor standards/time studies, and Yamazumi / line balancing to increase throughput and stability.
  • Developing a continuous improvement roadmap for each value stream with a focus on Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity; deploying Lean tools (5S/6S, waste elimination, VSM, root cause/corrective actions, Kanban, visual management).
  • Establishing and sustaining a performance management system (daily/weekly operating rhythm, KPI governance, escalation/problem solving) that converts operational data into action and prevents "pilot-only" digital initiatives from stalling before scale.
  • Owning the Industry 4.0 / digital factory enablement roadmap: identify and implement high-impact opportunities for paperless execution, improved quality loops, and connected shop-floor insights aligned to smart factory principles (connected, adaptive operations).
  • Leading new product start-up / transfer readiness from an IE/OpEx perspective: process readiness, standardized work and training, capacity planning, and launch stabilization to achieve high process and quality standards.
  • Driving productivity and cost optimization programs through prioritized CI projects and justified capital investments; develop technology roadmaps for automation/digitalization programs and ensure benefits are realized in SQDCP metrics.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Operations Excellence, including leadership responsibility in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean methods and tools such as 5S/6S, waste (Muda) elimination, root cause/corrective actions, Yamazumi, Kanban, and Value Stream Mapping / Process Flow.
  • Proven ability to lead change, create accountability, and influence cross-functional partners to deliver measurable operational outcomes.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and communication skills with the ability to align teams to a common vision and operating rhythm.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt) preferred.
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 / smart factory concepts (connected systems, real-time visibility, digital performance routines) and deploying solutions beyond pilot stage into daily management.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems and data (e.g., ERP such as SAP); ability to structure shop-floor execution data for performance routines and decision-making.

The pay range for this position is $83,966 - $143,942 annually with a target incentive of 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
