Job Summary:

Indirects are a critical part of every Bechtel Project. Indirects is a category of all construction site support functions that are not associated with installation of permanent plant material. These support functions are centered around development and maintenance of the entire project site from temporary office buildings, site fencing, traffic control and parking for thousands of project personnel, temporary road development, break trailers and facilities, tool cribs and site laydown area development, and maintenance to name a few.

In this role, you will be part of a team of superintendents and Craft Professionals on project. You will have direct influence on work activities that will require design issued Field Sketches, ranging from design input, full sketch development - review - issue, material quantity estimates, material ordering, and inspections. You will assist Superintendents with ordering materials, specialty tools, equipment, and providing deliverables as requested by Area Managers or Project Management to ensure overall project schedule is maintained. You will be required to comply with project policies and procedures, follow job site work rules, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure to uphold Projects Safety Values.
  • Assist in developing work schedules.
  • Quantity take-off and completion quantity reporting.
  • Support Team Members with material, tool and equipment orders.
  • Development, review, issue and inspection of work scopes within Field Sketches
  • Provide directions to subcontractors and/or vendors
  • Establish a working relationship and lines of communication with Indirect Superintendents, Area Indirects Superintendent, Field Superintendents, Discipline Field Engineers, Field Procurement Supervisors, Subcontract Technical Representatives, and other key supervisors on the project.
  • Ensure that required design information is available to the Indirect Superintendents.
  • Ensure required inspections of work scopes are completed as needed in a timely manner with support from Indirect Superintendents.
  • Ensure that project automation tools are being effectively used by yourself and Indirect Superintendents as required.
  • Work with Project Environmental Professionals and Indirect Superintendents for compliance with the Environmental Control Plan.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience working on a large multi-discipline construction Project.
  • Knowledge of all around construction site layout - office arrangements, parking lots, fencing, break trailers/facilities, laydown area development, delivery logistics, and good organizations skills.
  • Knowledge of working with Craft Professions in multi-discipline activities.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and/or vendors
  • Computer literate to allow functioning within standard application programs, i.e. - Office 365.
  • Demonstrated field leadership abilities, setting expectations, and following through to completion.
  • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working at heights, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Some lifting may be required, nothing over 50lbs.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, flash protection, etc.).
