Full Job Description
The opportunity

EY's Indirect Tax Recovery practice helps organizations navigate complex indirect tax environments to identify and pursue cash recovery opportunities, delivering both financial value and greater visibility into tax and finance processes. We are seeking a Manager-level Business Development professional to support the continued growth of our US-focused Indirect Tax Recovery practice.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing client relationships, progressing leads, and shaping opportunities in partnership with EY's indirect tax professionals. This is a consultative, relationship-driven business development role, suited to an up-and-coming professional who is comfortable with longer sales cycles, senior client engagement, and working in a professional services environment.

This job posting relates to an existing vacancy within our organization.

Your key responsibilities

As a Manager in Business Development for Indirect Tax Recovery, you will:
  • Identify, develop and progress new business opportunities within the US market, leveraging both inbound leads and proactive outreach
  • Maintain and deepen relationships with US-based client contacts, including tax, finance, controllership and procurement stakeholders
  • Act as a primary commercial contact, ensuring timely follow-up on leads, consistent client communication, and a high-quality client experience
  • Collaborate closely with EY indirect tax professionals to understand client needs and translate business issues into Indirect Tax Recovery opportunities
  • Support the development of proposals, presentations and pursuit strategies in coordination with technical teams
  • Assist with commercial discussions and negotiation of engagement terms, moving opportunities from interest to executed agreements
  • Contribute to account planning efforts, helping to expand existing relationships and identify cross-service opportunities
  • Monitor and maintain visibility into pipeline activity, pursuits and market development efforts, providing updates to leadership as required
  • Represent the Indirect Tax Recovery practice in client meetings and select market-facing initiatives

Skills and attributes for success

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • A strong professional presence and communication skills, particularly in client-facing settings
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities concurrently
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to identify client issues and connect them to the right EY resources
  • Confidence working in a collaborative professional services environment, partnering with technical specialists rather than selling standalone products

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Several years of relevant experience in business development, account management, client services or consultative selling, ideally within professional services or a related environment
  • Experience engaging clients, managing pipelines, and supporting pursuits and commercial discussions
  • Comfort working with US-based clients and stakeholders
  • Indirect tax experience is an asset but not required - training and on-the-job exposure will be provided
