Parsons is now accepting applications for a Bridge Section Manager to lead a team of engineers working on our expanding portfolio of bridge and structural projects. Step into a pivotal leadership role where your ability to build, inspire, and guide a high-performing bridge team will directly shape the future of Indiana's transportation infrastructure. As a Bridge Section Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead a growing group of engineers, influence project delivery across a complex portfolio of bridge and transportation structural work, and drive both operational excellence and business growth within your section. This role is ideal for a leader who can strategically develop talent, align staffing and resources with business needs, foster collaboration across project teams, and serve as a trusted voice in pursuit strategy, quality, and client delivery. With the autonomy to strengthen team capability, recruit key talent, and elevate performance, you will play a central role in building a dynamic, resilient section positioned for long-term success.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll help support project delivery, team planning, and staff development. You'll work closely with project managers and team members to make sure the right people are assigned to the right work, projects stay on track, and staff have the support they need to grow.

Project & Team Support
  • Help plan staffing needs across projects and programs.
  • Review staffing schedules, budgets, and forecasts to ensure teams are set up for success.
  • Coordinate resources across disciplines, including temporary support when needed.
  • Support engineering and design efforts across assigned projects or programs.
  • Monitor project progress, quality, and productivity to help teams meet goals.
  • Partner with Project Managers to proactively address staffing, schedule, or quality concerns.
  • Ensure work aligns with company and project standards and procedures.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve team processes and ways of working.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and discipline-related activities.
  • Support the development and maintenance of team standards, tools, and guidance.
  • Help manage department resources in line with approved budgets.

Business Development Support
  • Contribute to proposal and pursuit efforts for upcoming opportunities.
  • Help identify and support new business opportunities for the team.
  • Provide technical input during pre-contract or business development activities as needed.
  • Represent the team at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing through presentations, conference abstracts, and professional involvement.

Team & Talent Development
  • Mentor and support engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Help identify staffing needs for current and future projects.
  • Support hiring efforts, including recruiting and onboarding new team members.
  • Coordinate training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Partner with direct reports to create individualized career development plans.
  • Forecast workload trends to help balance team capacity.
  • Support performance management through coaching, recognition, and ongoing feedback.


What Qualifications You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of related road and highway experience, with a heavy focus on highway bridges, preferably including Department of Transportation (INDOT) projects
  • 3 to 5 years of experience directly managing engineering staff and project teams
  • Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) registration; active membership in a professional engineering society may be required.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations (e.g. INDOT design manuals, National Bridge Design Specifications (AASHTO, ACI, etc.), and standard practices.
  • Strong knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of engineering software relevant to bridge design (e.g., MDX, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare and MicroStation/OpenRoads).
  • Established relationships with INDOT Central Office and District staff is a plus

Salary Range: $125,100.00 - $225,200.00
