Full Job Description
The Inbound Logistics Engineer drives inbound transport network performance by designing, implementing, and continuously improving transport flows to reduce cost, increase efficiency, and ensure plant stability.

This role owns key performance drivers such as fill rate, transit time, transport mode, and cost per car, translating analysis into implemented network improvements. It requires a strong analytical mindset, ownership, and the ability to convert complex problems into practical, scalable solutions.

Operating in a dynamic environment, the role works cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, suppliers, carriers, and logistics partners to deliver measurable performance improvements and ensure the network adapts to changing volumes, sourcing setups, and business requirements.

What you'll do

Role Description:

Transport Network Design and Optimization
  • Design, implement, and develop inbound and packaging return transport setups (routes, frequency, consolidation, transport modes such as FTL, LTL, milk runs, etc.).
  • Define and optimize transport flows, lead times, delivery windows, and network structures to ensure stable supply and efficient operations.
  • Own and optimize core performance drivers including fill rate, utilization, delivery frequency, lead time, working capital, and cost per car.
  • Continuously challenge existing transport setups and implement better solutions that reduce waste and strengthen overall network efficiency.
  • Lead implementation of new lanes, tier-1 supplier relocations, and network changes, ensuring strong execution and stable integration into running operations.
  • Drive continuous adjustments to keep the network aligned with changing volumes and business conditions.
  • Take ownership of developing practical solutions in both short-term operational challenges and longer-term network improvement needs.
  • Translate analysis and business requirements into practical, implemented network improvements.

Cost Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive measurable cost reduction through improved network design, utilization, and transport mode strategy.
  • Develop and evaluate transport solutions from an end-to-end perspective, balancing cost, service, lead time, and working capital impact.
  • Support RFQs, business cases, and network development to ensure scalable and efficient transport solutions.

Performance Analysis & Decision Support
  • Own performance follow-up and provide clear explanations of cost development and key performance drivers.
  • Provide structured, data-driven insights including cost per car, fill rate, transit time, and delivery balance.
  • Explain cost movements, identify the underlying drivers behind performance changes, and convert findings into clear actions for improvement.
  • Strengthen the inbound logistics team's ability to operate in an analytical, performance-oriented, and data-driven landscape.

Drive Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Act as a key interface between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment to ensure transport solutions are feasible, effective, and successfully implemented.
  • Lead or support network go-lives, carrier implementations, and hyper care activities for new or changed transport network setups.
  • Represent inbound logistics in projects and ensure optimization requirements are reflected in decisions and implementation.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in logistics, supply chain, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in logistics engineering, transport optimization, or supply chain design (preferably in automotive or complex supply chains).
  • Experience working with transport systems, optimization tools, and data-driven performance follow-up.
  • Strong analytical capability and problem-solving skills, including strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Power BI, Excel, and experience working with data to drive decisions and improvements.
  • Strong improvement mindset with the ability to challenge and refine existing setups.
  • Solid understanding of transport network design, routing, and transport mode strategy.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, challenge current setups, and turn analysis into real, implemented improvements.
