Responsibilities/Qualifications

Position Summary

The In-House Counsel will oversee legal, regulatory, Medicaid, compliance, and litigation matters for the organization. This role requires a hands-on attorney with strong healthcare and courtroom experience who can support day-to-day operations while protecting the company's legal and financial interests.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Medicaid regulations, healthcare compliance, employment law, and active court representation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal guidance to executive leadership and operational teams
  • Represent the company in court proceedings, administrative hearings, disputes, and litigation matters
  • Manage outside counsel when necessary
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, vendor agreements, referral agreements, and client service agreements
  • Ensure compliance with Michigan healthcare regulations, labor laws, and licensing requirements
  • Handle employment law matters including wage and hour issues, caregiver disputes, investigations, and HR compliance
  • Develop and implement internal compliance programs and policies
  • Support business expansion, acquisitions, licensing, and regulatory filings
  • Oversee HIPAA/privacy and risk management initiatives
  • Monitor changes in healthcare and Medicaid laws affecting home care operations
