Job Description:
- IBMi Development. Must be highly skilled and experienced with IBMi and AS/400 deployments and be able to work with a dynamic team of US and India based developers to meet client requirements for system support and application development.
- Create, maintain, and modernize applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform, using languages like RPG, CL, and SQL, focus on robust, secure, and efficient code, often integrating with modern DevOps practices, cloud, and open-source tools to ensure system reliability and meet business needs. Key tasks include analysis, coding (RPGLE, Free Format), testing, deployment, support, and collaborating with teams to enhance the platform's capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Development & Coding: Write, test, and deploy applications using RPG (SQLRPGLE), CL, SQL, COBOL, and potentially Java.
- System Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues, apply security patches, and ensure application stability.
- Modernization: Transition legacy systems to modern DevOps culture, integrating open-source tools and web services.
- Testing & Deployment: Perform unit, regression, and integration testing; assist with deployment and post-deployment support.
- Collaboration: Work within agile teams, communicate with stakeholders, and support helpdesk functions.
- Documentation: Adhere to change control processes and maintain code quality standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in RPG (especially SQLRPGLE, Free Format), CL, SQL, and DB2.
- Platform Knowledge: Experience with iSeries Navigator, Integrated File System (IFS).
- Modern Skills (Beneficial): Web services, application integration, API development, DevOps, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Python, Git, Agile.
