What you would engage in:

Our focus is on the application of critical thinking to the management of mine waste and water. By continuing your career journey with us, you would be part of our Mining Environmental Group, based out our Vancouver office. The role of Hydrotechnical Engineer will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Work with the latest versions of software, including GoldSim, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC- HMS, Flow-2D/3D
  • Work on mine site wide water balance and water quality models (with the opportunity to use GoldSim)
  • Design hydrotechnical components tailings storage facilities for global mining projects
  • Incorporate climate change resiliency in hydrotechnical design
  • Contribute to risk assessments, Dam Safety Reviews and risk-informed decision making
  • Engage with clients, colleagues and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and design solutions
  • Lead less experienced staff through the methodologies of design solutions
  • Build client rapport as projects progress from feasibility through to mine closure


What we require:

We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to support you as you build on it. We do however require:

  • A degree in civil engineering: a master's degree is considered an asset
  • 3+ years' civil design experience related to surface water controls (preferably for mining or related industries), with a track record of continued development
  • You must be eligible to register as professional engineer in Canada
  • Experience in hydrotechnical designs analyses (e.g., water balance, open channel flow, erosion protection)
  • A general understanding of mining-related regulations and industry best practices
  • Passion for collaborating with clients and colleagues, fostering long-term relationships
  • Enhanced communication skills, which should include experience in writing technical reports and general project correspondence
  • Experience in a safety focused environment with near miss and incident reporting requirements

The salary for this position is $82,000 to $130,000 per year. Salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level.
