Overview / Summary We are seeking a talented and innovative Hybrid Powertrain OBD Subsystem Engineer to support the development, validation, and maintenance of on-board diagnostic (OBD) solutions for hybrid propulsion technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive product development, diagnostic systems, calibration, software testing, and data analysis related to hybrid powertrain systems.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and validate diagnostic software solutions that meet global regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and deliver on-board diagnostic (OBD) solutions for hybrid propulsion technologies
- Support requirements analysis and validation using Simulink-based signal processing algorithms
- Perform and oversee HIL, on-road, and dynamometer data collection activities
- Calibrate and validate sensor performance and diagnostic monitoring capabilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on design, development, and validation of engine diagnostic software
- Investigate and resolve software and calibration-related OBD issues
- Author scripts using MATLAB, Python, and other scripting tools to analyze diagnostic behavior and support calibration activities
- Prepare calibration guides, regulatory documentation, and workshop manual content
- Support software testing and data analysis activities related to hybrid propulsion diagnostics
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in automotive product development, preferably in hybrid propulsion diagnostics
- 2+ years of experience with data acquisition activities
- 2+ years of experience in software testing, calibration, and data analysis
- Working knowledge of hybrid propulsion systems and diagnostics
- Experience analyzing or reviewing programming languages such as C/C++, MATLAB, or Simulink
- Familiarity with Jira
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of vehicle powertrain systems and diagnostic protocols
- Understanding of OBD standards and regulations
- Familiarity with HIL and SIL testing methodologies
- Experience with diagnostic tools
- Experience developing algorithms for fault detection and diagnostics
- Familiarity with Python scripting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and project management skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint
