  • Define sourcing lanes, establish risk logs, and set service levels based on site needs.
  • Lead strategic sourcing teams and run RFI/RFP/RFQ cycles to normalize supplier bids.
  • Negotiate Service Level Agreements, track finance-recognized savings, and build should-cost models.
  • Develop dashboards to connect critical supply chain metrics using SQL.
  • Lead performance reviews and present multi-year strategic initiatives to leadership.

Position: HW Commodity Specialist III - AMZ6704.19

Location: Herndon, VA

Multiple Positions Available:

1. Manage the Break-Fix Spares category within the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) domains. 2. Build Electrical/Mechanical global spares category strategy managing $50M spend across 50K+ Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), 100+ Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and 1000+ models. 3. Define substitution rules and sourcing lanes; maintain a risk log (single-source, long lead, sanctions, Conflicts of Interest). 4. Set service levels by site/region; align stocking and replenishment pathways with maintenance calendars. 5. Establish category sourcing strategies and lead crossfunctional strategic sourcing teams. 6. Run Request for Information (RFI)/Request for Proposal (RFP)/Request for Quote (RFQ) cycles; normalize bids by International Commercial Terms (Incoterms), lead times, and payment terms. 7. Compare total landed cost (unit, freight, duties, taxes) and capacity coverage by region. 8. Lead cross-functional reviews (Operations, Finance, Legal) and finalize award scenarios. 9. Negotiate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) (On-Time Delivery (OTD), fill rate, defect rate) and credits; coordinate contract redlines with Legal. 10. Build should-cost/Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models; identify consolidation and standardization opportunities. 11. Structure volume brackets, term discounts, and logistics optimizations to reduce landed cost. 12. Document finance-recognized savings and track realization versus plan. 13. Coordinate with Finance on budget envelopes and with Operations on consumption signals. 14. Build dashboards using Structured Query Language (SQL) connecting Purchase Orders, lead times, fill rates, stockouts, and inventory turns. 15. Run rolling demand forecasts; set safety stock and Reorder Points (ROPs) by site/criticality. 16. Define weighted supplier evaluation criteria (quality, capacity, geographic coverage, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), price, risk). 17. Validate logistics footprints and contingencies; qualify alternates for high-risk SKUs. 18. Negotiate buffer stock/Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI)/consignment arrangements and escalation paths for supply recovery. 19. Align warranty, returns, and service credits with operational risk and uptime objectives. 20. Lead Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs)/Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) tracking performance metrics and present multi-year strategy to leadership. 21. Up to 20% of domestic travel may be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in the same fields and 5 years of progressive postbaccalaureate experience as equivalent.

Must have 1 year of experience in:

1. Conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis to support business decision making, generate recommendations, and drive actions

2. Communicating complex supply planning strategies across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders.

3. Developing functional requirements to create new tools or refine processes

4. Developing business cases with policy and implementation recommendations to handle new areas of opportunity, including scaling with software

5. Applying advanced analytical and operational skills in Supply Chain Management including Demand Forecasting, Inventory Policy, Strategic Sourcing, Total Cost of Ownership, and Global Logistics Management

6. Utilizing Data Analytics tools (Excel, SQL, Python) to build demand forecasts, model landed costs, evaluate suppliers, plan logistics, govern supplier performance, and detect risks to prevent stockouts.
