Full Job Description
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Oversees a team of Systems Engineering Leaders and Senior Systems Engineers, guiding the strategic direction and long-term planning of the Americas HVAC Engineering Team. This role is instrumental in aligning engineering capabilities with Johnson Controls' enterprise growth initiatives, including Strategic Accounts, OpenBlue, Connected Workflow Dashboards, and Vertical Market Solutions. Responsible for establishing and refining engineering processes that promote cost efficiency, consistent project execution, and high customer satisfaction. Partners effectively with field operations, sales teams, and Regional, and Local Market Leadership to ensure integrated delivery and support across all engineering functions. This position supports the upper Midwest of the US.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Develop a Region Core Team strategic business plan consistent with the Above-Market account management plans, mission, and objectives. Understands the business environment of regional markets and works with the Region Leadership Team to support this. Participates in the development and execution of the Controls Systems Engineer (or Controls Systems Specialist in Canada) and Controls Systems Designer training plans. Participates in Strategic Account reviews to ensure that projects are delivered consistently across the Americas HVAC Engineering Team. Reviews with Sales Forecast, HVAC Headcount Tracking and Capacity Model to ensure that the Americas HVAC Engineering Team has the right quantity and ability of resources to effectively support the future work. Collaborates closely with offshore engineering teams to ensure project execution strategies consistently achieve the highest quality and cost efficiency. Develops, implements, monitors and communicates the Americas HVAC Engineering Team processes, strategies and standards. Participates in the above region project reviews on major projects. Works with and understands financial, contract management and other management reports. Develops and maintains viable relationships with customers, consulting engineers and architect engineers. Leverages these relationships to enhance pre-sales design, securing extras and provides leadership in achieving customer satisfaction. Maintains high level of engineering standards. Ensures maximum reuse of designs and programs. Leads the development and implementation of the Global Engineering Playbook and Drawing Style Guide, ensuring consistent adoption across engineering teams. Mentors and coordinates development of team members. Develops core team employees through implementation of their personal development plans, goal setting and timely performance reviews. Provide technical assistance and information to other teams within the region as needed. Collaborates closely with offshore engineering teams to ensure project execution strategies consistently achieve the highest quality and cost efficiency. Participate in broader JCI committees, and initiatives as assigned by the leader of America's Engineering teams. Adheres to safety standards and demonstrates high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 8 - 10 years of progressively more responsibility in the construction and engineering industries.

Prior experience in supervision of technical / engineering group.

Minimum of five years of progressive responsibility in the construction industry.

Preferred

Master's degree or Professional Engineer Registration is highly desired. Recognized as a leading expert in several core engineering competencies.

Understands accounting principles and cost management.

Good oral and written communication skills, especially in the presentation of technical material.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $115,000 - $170,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
