Primary Function

Join Dashiell during an exciting period of growth and help shape the people strategy for one of the nation's premier engineering organizations.

The HR Manager - Engineering serves as the dedicated HR business partner to Dashiell's Engineering department, aligning HR strategy with the goals of the engineering business unit across all locations. Consistent with a business-unit-aligned model, this role serves as a single point of HR partnership for engineering leadership regardless of geography, owning workforce planning, employee relations, talent and succession, and change management for the engineering population. The role also provides leadership and direction to the HR resources supporting engineering. The position will be based in our Kurland office located at 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, Texas 77034 and will report to Dashiell's VP, Human Resources.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Serve as the primary HR business partner to engineering leadership, aligning people strategy with the department's business objectives across all engineering locations.
  • Partner with engineering managers on workforce planning, organizational design, and headcount strategy in support of the company's growth.
  • Advise and coach engineering managers on performance management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and policy interpretation.
  • Lead and resolve complex employee relations matters within engineering, including investigations, performance issues, and disciplinary actions.
  • Drive talent management, succession planning, and leadership development for the engineering workforce.
  • Provide leadership and direction to HR staff and coordinators supporting the engineering population, including distributed and multi-location coverage.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support engineering hiring strategy and workforce pipeline needs.
  • Partner with the Centers of Excellence-Benefits & Leave, Compensation, and HRIS & People Analytics-to deliver integrated HR services to engineering.
  • Use workforce data and metrics to identify trends and recommend solutions to engineering leadership.
  • Conduct periodic visits to engineering offices to maintain strong partnerships with distributed teams.
  • Ensure HR compliance within engineering across all applicable state and local jurisdictions.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive HR experience, including experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager supporting a defined business unit or client group.
  • Previous people leadership or team leadership experience preferred.
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence business leaders and managers.
  • Experience leading complex employee relations matters and investigations.
  • Experience supporting a distributed, multi-site professional or engineering workforce preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use workforce data to inform decisions.
  • Familiarity with the engineering, energy, or EPC industry preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.

Environmental Conditions

  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment.
  • Occasional exposure to field or industrial environments during site visits.
